The Federation of Macedonian Cultural Artistic Associations of Victoria is proud to present the 2026 FOMKUD Ilinden Festival!

FOMKUD is a Victorian umbrella organisation representing Macedonian community cultural and artistic dance groups that engage around 400 young people aged 5–18.

Through traditional Macedonian song, dance, and costume, participants celebrate and preserve cultural stories and customs, including themes of family life, agriculture, craftsmanship, and the pursuit of freedom. Each year, young performers from communities across Melbourne and Geelong come together for the Ilinden Festival, a showcase of traditional Macedonian culture and talent.

The festival commemorates the historic Ilinden Uprising of 1902 and celebrates the values of independence, right to self-determination, expression, identity and culture. The event provides a unique opportunity for young people to connect, perform, and celebrate their shared heritage.

This year, FOMKUD is especially excited to welcome the return of MKUD Biser Geelong, whose senior group will perform at the festival, marking an important milestone in the group's revival and future growth.
